SME automation: choose a task that deserves to disappear

Reject false candidates

Do not automate a process whose rules change weekly or whose result has no owner. Simplify it first.

Establish a baseline

  • Weekly volume.
  • Average handling time.
  • Returns or errors.
  • Delay from entry to output.

Build an escape route

The system should flag uncertainty, keep a trace and allow human correction. Silent automation is difficult to manage.

Frequently asked questions

Does automation always need AI?

No. A rule, form or API is often more reliable. AI helps with text, documents or categories that are hard to code.

How is the gain measured?

Measure time, volume, errors and delay before the pilot. Repeat the same measurements after several weeks.

What happens to ambiguous cases?

Send them to a person with the necessary context, then use corrections to improve the flow.
